Horizon Data Center Solutions Adding Staff and Expanding Rapidly as Demand for Virtualized IT Services Grows
Saturday, January 15, 2011
Dallas- January 15, 2011 – Dallas-based Horizon Data Center Solutions has leased 10,000 square feet of space on the top floor of the Legacy Towers building in Plano just off the North Dallas Tollway, consolidating staff from two other facilities in one location for the first time in the company’s three year history. Horizon is also expanding its workforce by 50 percent with jobs in both Dallas and Northern Virginia to support the growth it sees coming from the federal government sector. From where CEO Lance Black sits, 2011 is looking really good.
Late last year, Horizon was notified of its selection by the GSA as a vendor for Cloud Computing. Within another 30 days when the rigorous FISMA Assessment and Accreditation procedures are complete, Horizon will begin fielding requisitions from government agencies that are required to move at least three services to the federal cloud within the next 18 months.
To facilitate the process, the company is hiring across the board, adding new Business Analysts with expertise in the government sector, as well as VMWare engineers and account executives for both their Dallas and Northern Virginia locations.
While gearing up for new government business, Horizon is also seeing an increase in its roster of private sector business clients, both for its traditional colocation, back-up and recovery services and its growing virtualized (cloud) service business, or vStructure™ Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering. Scalability with the cloud allows Horizon to serve small to medium sized businesses as well as Fortune 100 corporations and government agencies
“The government contract is an excellent validation of confidence in our business model. The FISMA Assessment and Accreditation process is rigorous, with higher standards than any that have been measured to date. Corporate CIOs and IT professionals obviously find this sort of endorsement important in selecting their own source for managing their mission critical data,” Black says.
As the year unfolds in front of them, Horizon Data Center Solutions is poised with a succinct menu of business solutions. Black says the Federal Government Cloud Initiative and other trends in business have shifted their attention more toward their IaaS platform and away from more expansion in the typical data center/colocation arenas.
To service its clients worldwide, the company operates Tier III, SAS 70 Type II data centers in Dallas and Northern Virginia. .
“It’s certainly a busy time for us as a business. It’s also an exciting time for businesses in general as virtualized data management solutions make it possible for businesses and government agencies to improve their productivity and the security of the data that is the lifeblood of their operation,” Black says.
